The source material and documents were accessed through the Wilson Library Collection at UNC Chapel Hill, ancestry.com records, and newspapers.com. This lynching specifically was first discovered by the author on Seth Kotch's website, www.lynching.web.unc.edu. The work of Kotch and his associates to map lynching in North Carolina was deeply influential and helpful in my curation of this exhibit.
